Criolle horses of Costa Rica

We currently have 8 horses who all sleep together in a large multi-hector plot. Alonzo is the alpha and each horse has their place within the herd. The natural heirchary of the herd is such an interesting thing and we love to watch them run freely. Every morning we open the gate and they follow us 250mts to the stables through the jungle, then back to the forest at night. The weight maximum for our strongest would be 240lbs and our smallest just 60lbs, so make sure to contact us with details as each tour is unique.

  • Morro

Morro was a Costa Rician ‘Tope’ dancing horse, who came to live with us in 2024 at close to 15 years old. He is a gentle giant who loves to swim and loves to trot when asked to do so. He fit right in with his new family and we love him!

  • Alonso

Born in 2017 Alonso came to us after being rescued from the kill pen. He is smooth and intelligent and very comfortable bareback. He listens well as a leader and is the alfa of our herd. Palomino mix with some quarter horse.

  • Zyphyr

Zypher came to us in 2025 with his elegance and grace. He is extremely responsive and rides as if he is trying to please you. He is very educated with his dressage like style of carrying himself. He is our black beauty!

  • Lucero

In Spanish 'bright star' because of the marking on his face. Born in 2008 he is very predictable and relable. Also partially retired in a field with Namaria. Very safe for all levels of experience as he still enjoys a gallop in the sand.

  • Lulu

Lulu is a small spunky paint with a very forward walk who really enjoys being out on the trail. She was born in 2014 and lived on a farm in the mountains herding cows. She is very adaptive to new things and loves to swim.

  • Namaria

Her name symbolizes a being so bright and pure that it can be seen on the outside. She was born in 2008 and has earned a partial retirement. She is the most responsive and calmest of our horses. Very safe for young children and nervous riders.

  • Yarrar

Yarra is the joker of the herd, born in 2013 and came to us when he was 6 years old. He had an old injury which means he is mostly retired now and is only used for very light weight children.
